To create a space for primary (first-person) female survivors of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and personality through adventure, emotional & physical challenges, and community.
A Brief History
Tertia was created by Marion Rose, a survivor of domestic violence, along with a small group of women passionate about women's (people's) rights and welfare. The mission of Tertia is to create a space for primary female survivors of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and personality through adventure, emotional & physical challenges, and community.
When Marion was still in an abusive relationship, she eventually found herself in a situation where she was surrounded by a small group of women each day. Many of these women had either experienced abuse in the past or were directly associated with someone who had been. They provided a sense of security, understanding, and friendship for Marion that, at the time, seemed impossible coming from anyone unfamiliar with domestic violence.
With those women, Marion experienced a type of camaraderie she'd never felt before, through the day-to-day challenges, adventures, and social aspects of their collective situation. Within just a few months she was able to rebuild her confidence and self-esteem and leave her abuser. As her friendships continued, she rebuilt her identity, was able to get her life back.
Tertia was founded as a Non-Profit Organization aimed to give other victims of violence & abuse the same opportunity Marion had, but in a controlled, safe, and hopefully fun environment!
